IT250 WEBDESIGN
Looking threw the web i found a couple of websites that can help with webdesign...
The first one is http://www.wpdfd.com/articles/
In it, it describes basically everything that we have gone through and how to apply it to create a good webdesign for your website..reading through all the short posts it shows how through css and other formats a clear and clean web design is simple to make
The other is http://konstruktors.com/blog/design-suggetions/118-web-design-critique-consistency-and-homogeneity-of-blog-layouts/
This one is the better of the two..it shows you examples of what a good webdesign is and how to go about creating a good website...It goes through the website Blogherald.com and how from the use of its icon to how it uses white space to seperate things it uses its web-design very well to get its message across..
It lists 8 things
ps. from the time he looked at the site till now the blog herald has changed its look but they still remain true...

IT250 OPINION
As i sit here in my chair I am pondering my thoughts about how this IT course has been going. It all started with alot of tags and typing..and identifying which tags go where..which kind of gave me a migraine...FINALLY! this thing called "CSS" came along and was the aspirin for my headache...it organized things in such a good manner..i just pray and hope that CSS doesnt become a mess/headache that the original html was...GO DREAMWEAVER!! WHERE'S FIREWORKS!! I HATE ELEMENT TAGS!!

IT250 POLITICAL APPEAL
Finding each of their websites was quite simple barackobama.com and johnmccain.com simple!
Obama's webpage starts with a splash page asking you to donate money to them but also giving you the option to continue to their site..i guess money is one issue for them..once you enter the site they use the main color of blue their party's color to influence individual and it is a recurring color throughout the web pages...they also use different letter sizes to get their main message across of CHANGE..he sets up his home page with main tabs to easily get to where u want to..this webpage has a flow to it and is very well organized..and is appealing to young voters trying to get involved
Switching over to the Mccain website it is unorgainized there are many different colors maybe the main one is blue which is not his party's color. i found his site to be very annoying having random links and photos very poorly placed..
Also when you scroll over one of Mccain's tabs you get a one long list that goes beyond ur webpage..but when there is a long list on Obama's site they spread it to two columns...
Obama's site is big on getting voters registered and places that picture in a key place on his webpage and it is working as many more democrats have registered this year then republicans..
Also, it seems that on Mccain's webpage the pics of him and governor Palin are small and even cut off on top..but Obama's and Biden's seems to be in good resolution and quality and are in a goo dplace on the webpage...
Also i found the points total on the Mccain page to be quite annoying always sitting on th eleft column of the page...
It saddens me to say this as someone who is leaning towards Mccain..but Obama has the better webpage and because of it is getting more registered voters that can help him win this election...the only problem for him is..its great to get them registered but will all these young new registered voters get off their couch and vote for him..

IT250: COLOR DESIGN
After listening to the podcast, i now have a better understanding of what a good website should look like. The overall lesson here is "Less is More". A pallet should include about 4 colors, but is not limited to that number. Another way to have an inviting web page is the right amount of contrast as to not hurt someone's eyes when looking at it. Also, black can be used as a color when used in creative ways.
One interesting thing i learned was taking color from images and using it in your web page. Also how background color can really set the way someone will look at your page as a whole.
One website that uses color well is our own Monmouth University Home Page. It sticks to the main color of the school, while still using other colors to distinguish between links and headers. It is also set up in a good manner and it is easy to read and find your way around.
A website that i found difficult to look at is http://everlucenthometheater.com/ its use of color makes it very difficult to look at and even had me squinting to get through it. (However, if you highlight the words with your mouse it turns to a normal white and black background.) They need to reorganize this site badly! Even the "SIGN IN" link is all the way in the far bottom right corner all by itself. it is also difficult to see the "Products", "Services" and "Contact Us" tabs with its use of color.

IT100 OVERVIEW
When i started the IT class i didnt know what to expect..i thought i knew Microsoft Office and how to use it...but this class opened me to a whole new view of it...one thing that felt was either unnecessary or needed more clarification was Access...it seemed like there was so much more to it..and at the same time i dont see myself using it in the near future...
I did like learning how to use Powerpoint..i was able to use it immediately in my business management class as well as others..so it was great to see a quick reward for my work in this class..i would like there to be a little on the language of websites..so that it can open students eyes to that world and will give them more incentive to join the higher IT classes...
I love the hybrid model..i couldnt see myself coming in twice a week for this class it would have driven me crazy...at first i tried to avoid this in my schedule..but now i am looking for any hybrid classes that i can get...
overall: The material was exciting and was presented in a good way..i feel that with this material it can get boring...but that Prof. Kretsch kept me on my toes and interested and yearning for more...THANK YOU PROF. KRETSCH
AS ALWAYS LETS GO RANGERS!!! (i need tix lol)

SAY IT AINT' SO

After dropping the first 2 games of the series in the "heated" Mellon Arena, the Rangers head home to try and get even with the Pens. There are 2 ways of looking at this. One way is they gotta win 4 out of 5 to win this series. But as the veterans on this team would say "we just gotta win one game at a time".
SO WIN ONE ALREADY!!!
u know it...RANGERS IN 7!!

IT100 ASSIGNMENT
Indonesia has blocked Youtube because of having an open global network in a limited type government. Also the Olympic committee has asked for an unrestricted internet access for visitors to the games. According to the course rules internet access must be available for all at the games. An 18 yr old spybotter was caught stealing money from people by hacking at their computers to get credit card information and other stuff like stocks. Myspace vs Itunes. They have created free video and music streaming live with advertising. "MySpace Music". 1/10 of all broadcasts are done online.
Personally my belief is that the limited restriction for the olympic games should be overruled, as much as in understand the government and their right to restrict it, the olympics already has enough controversy around it and does not need this. As for Myspace Music, i think its a great idea and i think that since Myspace already had a great following that this will be a big hit, especially here in the US.

RANGERS TAKE 3-1 SERIES LEAD: SERIES OVER?
With a 5 to 3 win on Wednesday night the Rangers have a commanding 3 games to 1 lead over the Devils. Does this mean series over?
I do believe it does...every game so far in this series has been close..now does that i mean i believe that the Rangers will put this one away in NJ on Friday night..no..im not definite on that..but i do believe that they will not lose the next three games to this New Jersey team..
This was the first win by a home team in this series..although one could argue that the Rangers have had the home field advantage in all 4 games in this series...
cya Friday night!
and as always
GO BLUESHIRTS!!!

THE SEAN AVERY RULE

During Sunday's game vs the Devils, on a 5 on 3, Sean Avery decided to have some fun with Devils goaltender Martin Broduer. Instead of trying to create a play and move the puck, he decided to face Broduer and try and distract him from the play. He waved his hands in his face, even his stick at times, Broduer retaliated with a few shoves but the Rangers did not score.
After the game many people were calling the play bush league, others just called it Avery being himself. The following day, the NHL made a rule that this would not be allowed and that if anyone would do it, it would result in a 2 min penalty.

Personally i found this to be hilarious, THE SEAN AVERY RULE, as much as the NHL hates him, his antics, "diving", etc.. He still manages to get into the NHL rule book!! I also feel that it was great that the NHL acted quickly and got rid of this type of play, as it would have led to copy cats and would have ruined the game.
Henrik Ludqvist said after practice that alot of guys were doing it to him in practice and that it was pretty annoying. He was glad that the NHL got rid of it.
So tonights Game 4, this rivalry and series is heating up, and i think tonight is when it is gonna explode! I'm looking for alot of fights and major penalties..especially when Devils players yell at Avery about this, and he retaliates..
LETS GO RANGERS!!

IT100 LIVE SEARCH
i did the broadway one in the live search challenge and i found it in exactly one minutes time..it took a few searches but i found it..pretty interesting..and now i know a better way of searching for things online..
NOW ITS A SERIES
Going into Game 3 the Rangers seemed to have the Devils number in every category and looked to take a commanding 3-0 lead. But New Jersey came out firing and took a 1-0 lead, the game went back and forth and was tied at 3 and headed in to OT. In OT the puck from in the corner was thrown infront of the net by John Madden hit of Marc Stall's skate and into the net. Giving the Devils the 4-3 victory.
THERES YOUR BREAK DEVILS FANS!!
The series continues Wed. night at the Garden for Game 4.

CRYING DEVILS FANS
After stealing Game 1 from the Devils, the Rangers looked to take a commanding 2-0 lead in this best of 7 series. And they did.
After 2 scoreless periods, the Rangers took the lead on a goal by captain Jaromir Jagr. He came from behind the net spun around and fired a shot on net, Broduer who was hit by his own man,Colin White was out of position. The second goal was scored 23 seconds later by Sean Avery off of a rebound, top shelf over Broduer. The Devils made a last effort scoring with just over a minute left on a deflection by John Madden, but it was not to be, as the Rangers won 2-1.
As, I drove home, I turned on the Devils Radio, (which was on Bible Radio lol, they cant find a sports station to cover them). The recurring theme was that the Devils got no breaks and how the refs had blown many calls. First, is it just me or were they getting all those calls when they won their cups. Its called making your own brakes! It seemed like every other word out of their mouths for a 40 min post game show was the devils got no brakes. They lost a goal review, which the puck never went in, Langenbrunner didn't hook the guy that hard..etc...
If you wanna hear some whining or see bad breaks...the Devils have only scored 2 goals in this series. One was when they were on the power play and Marty Straka's stick broke, had he had his stick, he was right there to block away the pass that led to the goal. On the second goal, on the faceoff Chris Drury was basically flipped over on his head, that lead to the shot off the faceoff and the deflection in.
Overall, the Rangers have dominated this series, they are showing who is the better team, which they showed in the regular season. The Devils have not had a lead at any point in this series. And their stadium has been taken over with Blueshirts!! Also that theme "Rock the Red"..is hilarious. In game 1 the devils hit like 5 posts. What color are the posts red...so keep rockin the red devils!!

IT100 CHALLENGES
In this challenge, it was difficult the first few times to get the correct words. My first try i got a 43%, 2ns try i got a 48%, 3rd try 76%, and 4th try 86%. It is a different way of thinking and with all the ways English can be described i hope that this doesn't become another one of their ways.

The Rangers were down 2-0 after 1 period...but fought back and tied the game at 2 with 8 minutes left. Tom Renney showed the will to win pulling his goalie with under 2 minutes left..but it was not enough..the game eventually went to a shootout..where the devils won in the 4th round...
The playoff schedule goes as follows:
Wednesday April 9th in NJ @ 7pm
Friday April 11th in NJ @ 7pm
Sunday April 13th in NY 7pm
Wednesday April 16th in NY @ 7pm
*Friday April 18th in NJ @7:30pm

With only one game left to go in the season...and so much still left to decide...

If the rangers get one point or lose and Boston loses they are the 5 seed and play the 4 seed devils
If the rangers lose in regulation and get no points and the bruins win they are the 6th seed...their opponent..is either the capitals or hurricanes..if the capitals win on sat night they play the capitals..if Washington loses they play the hurricanes..
UPDATE:
The Bruins lost to the Sabres so the Rangers at worst will end up in 5th place...

If the rangers win in regulation they get home court advantage and 4th place...all other endings...they end up in 5th place vs the 4th seeded devils...

IT100 ASSIGNMENT
Anti-virus software is a necessity for any computer in todays world. The number of viruses that are created every day goes up every year. It is shocking to see how many of these threats are created both here in the US and worldwide.
Therefore it is imperative that every person keep up to date with their anti-virus software. Do not expect to be safe with any older versions as newer and more destructive viruses are created every day.
A large amount of credit cards get exposed every day by these viruses. This can be avoided with the correct type of anti-virus software that is updated on a daily basis.

RANGER REBOUND

Carrying a one-goal lead into the final period against one of the hottest teams in the NHL, the Rangers played one of their best periods of the season and finished with an extremely important 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.
Sean Avery and Martin Straka scored third-period goals for the Blueshirts, who snapped a two-game skid with the win. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who was excellent earlier in the contest against the high-flying Pens, faced only five shots in the final stanza, and finished with 24 saves on the night for the 100th win of his NHL career.
The Rangers now have 85 points on the season and have moved to within two points of the 5th place team in the Eastern Conference, the Ottawa Senators, heading into Wednesday's clash in Newark against the conference-leading New Jersey Devils.
If the playoffs started today the Rangers would be in 6th place and would play the Carolina Hurricanes, who even though they have less points then the Rangers('Canes have 83 points), they still hold the 3 seed due to their lead in their division.

IT100 ASSIGNMENT
Briefly describing the article.. I believe that there should be limitations on pirated movies that are posted online. I believe that Google should stop being ignorant and should join the MPAA and agree that all websites use on unified way for tracking pirated movies online. If Google continues to use its own version then like it says in the article, other websites will create their own way as well. This will enable people to chose and find which sight is more lenient and that sight will be the most common.
My experience with YouTube is that some video clips that are posted are immediately taken down. One example is MLB clips. One blogger posted his own video of a pitcher warming up during spring training and it was immediately taken down because of the rights that MLB has.
This is similar to music in that music was readily and easily downloaded in the late 90's for free, and then they came down hard on it and now you have itunes stores etc... and now with this explosion of video sites, i dont think that making people pay for it is the answer, i believe that putting commercials or viewing in the creators website is the correct answer to this problem.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
ps this is a college assignment so i had to put it in my blog.

5 IN A ROW

After the trading deadline the rangers have won both games one vs the hurricanes 4-2 on thursday night. Another one vs the flyers at home 5 to 4 in a shootout...
It was high drama at The Garden on Sunday afternoon, as the Rangers beat the Flyers 5-4 in an overtime shootout where Brendan Shanahan and Nigel Dawes both scored to give the Blueshirts their fourth consecutive win and a share of sixth place.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME
1. B. SHANAHAN -- NYR
2. S. VALIQUETTE -- NYR
3. J. CARTER -- PHI
The Rangers enter Tuesday tied for 6th place with 76 pts in the east and have a home and home with the Islanders who sit in 11th place with 69 points. The first game will be tonight with the second game following on Thursday on the island.
Coach Tom Renney was quoted on the reason his team latest success as"Our level of concentration; our commitment to many of the details that are important to winning; finding ways to win; finding ways to get points; not beating ourselves; it's all been important to us," said Renney. "Being professional about it all; staying composed has been important to us."

TRADE DEADLINE MOVES

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forwards Fredrik Sjostrom and Josh Gratton and goaltender David LeNeveu, and a conditional draft pick from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for goaltender Al Montoya and forward Marcel Hossa.

The native of Fernie, British Columbia, LeNeveu was originally Phoenix’s second round selection, 46th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather also announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Christian Backman from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

He ranks fourth on the Blues among defensemen in assists (nine) and points (10). In addition, Backman recorded a season-high, two points (one goal and one assist) on January 13 vs. Vancouver, and registered four points (one goal and three assists) in a five games from January 2 to January 13. He skated in his 200th career NHL game on November 19 vs. Nashville.

PERFECTION

If the script that is unfolding at Madison Square Garden this season seems familiar, that's simply because it is.
As was the case one year ago, when the Blueshirts surged over their final 20 games to finish sixth in the Eastern Conference and set the stage for a memorable playoff run, they are doing it again with the added confidence that came from last year's experience.
Indeed, the current Rangers are now five points ahead of their pace from the 2006-07 season as they drive toward what would be their third straight playoff berth in April.
The latest victim in the Rangers' late-season rejuvenation was the Florida Panthers on Sunday night at MSG. The Blueshirts dominated from start to finish in beating the Panthers 5-0 for their second straight victory and their seventh straight game with at least one standings point.

HANGING UP THE PHONE

AFTER A PROMISING WEEKEND THE RANGERS TRAVELED TO MONTREAL AND TOOK A 5-0 LEAD HALF WAY THROUGH THE 2ND PERIOD BUT FROM THERE IT WAS ALL DOWNHILL. AS THEY FELL TO THE CANDIENS 6-5 LOSING IN A SHOOTOUT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE RANGERS HAVE LOST A GAME IN WHICH THEY LED BY 5 GOALS.
LETS HOPE THAT THEIR LUCK IS BETTER ON CASINO NIGHT WHICH IS THIS THURSDAY NIGHT AT THE GARDEN.
ALL I CAN SAY IS "WOW".

ANSWERING THE CALL

IT SEEMS AFTER STRUGGLING IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY THE RANGERS HAVE WOKEN UP AND ARE ANSWERING THE CALL.
ON SATURDAY THEY DESTROYED THE SABRES 5-1 AND ON SUNDAY THEY GOT THEIR FIRST WIN AGAINST A WESTERN CONFERENCE TEAM DEFEATING THE SHARKS 3-1 WITH A GREAT PERFORMANCE BY WINGER RYAN CALLAHAN. CALLAHAN WHOM COACH TOM RENNEY SENT DOWN EARLY IN THE SEASON, STATING THAT HE WASNT SHOWING ENOUGH TO STAY ON THE TEAM, IS SHOWING HIS COACH AND RANGER FANS THAT HE IS HERE TO STAY..

HIS PLAY ALONG WITH THE BREATH OF FRESH AIR OF BRANDON DUBINSKY GREAT PLAY AND SEAN AVERY'S SPEED IS CREATING MORE SCORING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THIS TEAM.
THE TEAM NOW STANDS IN 6TH PLACE. BUT THEY HAVE PLAYED 2 MORE GAMES THAN THE TEAMS SURROUNDING THEM.
IT WILL BE AN INTERESTING LAST 21 GAMES.

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Returning to Madison Square Garden following three consecutive victories on the road, the Rangers were unable to extend their winning streak as they fell 4-2 to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday evening. Despite the loss, the Rangers still hold seventh place in the Eastern Conference by one point over the Boston Bruins, who also lost at home to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

RANGER RECOVERY

Trailing 3-0 in the second period of Sunday afternoon's nationally televised game in Montreal, the red-hot Rangers refused to lose, erupting for five unanswered goals over final 31:21 for a 5-3 win that lifted them up another notch in the standings.
Continuing their steady climb up the Eastern Conference standings, the Rangers surged into seventh place by erasing a three-goal deficit to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 5-3 Sunday afternoon at the Bell Centre in a game played at a fevered, playoff pitch.
| Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist rebounded to finish with 25 saves, including 10 in the third period, after giving up three goals on power plays. |
They'll be looking for four in a row tomorrow night at home against the LA Kings.
